Short and Sweet #9
by Annette Dammer

Study a quote a day. Just a few wise sentences. For me, that's a Bible verse. Not a chapter - a verse. Just enough wisdom to spark an idea. Not so much great info that I'm overwhelmed and tune out. I subscribe to a list that sends me a new one each day. It simplifies things and helps me keep my focus. A safe one I use is HEARTLIGHT ( just send a blank email to: join-todaysverse-kjv@lists.heartlight.org to get yours - no spam) Another EXCELLENT resources for quotes of all kinds is: www.bartleby.com

OK. So I get my quote. Then, I try to take it a step further. I choose a few key words from the quote and look them up in a dictionary. ( www.dictionary.com is a quick peek any day!) Then, I take a few quiet moments. For me, that means prayer. Sitting and staring a bit. Letting my mind wander over and focus on the verse I'm studying.  Then I write I find in an email. We email friends all the time. It's easy!

Try it. Share what you find with a writer friend, your favorite list, or us!  Too shy? Too personal? Email yourself - but save your mail.

Even if you forget HALF of the time - you'll have 182 pages of copy by the end of the year. Grounded, wisdom-inspired devotions. Meditations. Poems. Whatever suits you - and the mood of your day!

But soon you'll have a book! By you. For you! Don't forget to share some with us!
